A COROA GODELLO AWARDED AS THE BEST WHITE OF VALDEORRAS

In a framework in which the quality of the wines of the Designation of Origin Valdeorras has shined more brightly than ever in all categories, the jury of the 22nd Valdeorras Wine Tasting has selected our A Coroa Godello as the best reference in the white range.
The award ceremony, held last Friday, June 9, at the Pazo do Castro Monument Hotel in the town of O Barco de Valdeorras, was chaired by the Regional Minister for Rural Affairs, José González. In turn, it also counted with the presence of the Mayor of O Barco de Valdeorras, Alfredo García, the Vice President of the Provincial Council of Ourense, Rosendo Fernández, and the Vowel of the C.R.D.O. Valdeorras, Araceli Fernández.
A total of 19 wineries with 59 different references participated in this edition of the Tasting, which took place at the facilities of the Regulatory Council of the Valdeorras Denomination of Origin last week.
This new recognition has a special significance for our winery, as we have been able to measure ourselves against the best wines of our region. The excellent quality of all the samples presented by the different participants, as well as the great prestige and international path of most of the wines exhibited, is an important addition to this award that has caused great joy in the entire A Coroa team.

A Coroa Godello is elaborated with grapes from 5 parcels of controlled production of A Coroa. The average age of the vineyards, as well as the different altitudes, orientations and heterogeneity of the land, endow the overall result with exclusive mineralization and outstanding complexity.
The result is a harmonious blend in which the nobility of the godello variety appears generous, offering us a fresh and varietal wine. With an excellent balance between alcohol – acidity, A Coroa 100% Godello is a long-lasting and enveloping wine.
Following the international successes of the 2018 and 2019 vintages, 85,000 bottles of the A Coroa Godello 2020 have been launched on the market.
As for the quality of the range, it is anticipated to be excellent, due to the great state of the grapes collected during the harvest as well as two fundamental factors: a controlled production – unique in the region of Valdeorras- and an integrated production.
Both processes are the foundation of the firm commitment to a modern production model under the quality seal of Galicia Calidade, and characterized to be sustainable and environmentally friendly.

A Coroa Godello 2020 presents a bright straw color, with marked green hues on a thin layer that remind us of harmonic combinations of green leafy flowers and shows its careful preparation. Crystal brightness and with an extensive care.
With great transparence of aromas and remarkable intensity, it subtly shows spicy notes that melt with aromas of wild white herbs, citrus notes, tropical fruits, ripe stone fruit and light aniseed tone that reminds one of fennel. It has a marked vegetal touch on the nose, typical of the godello, and outstandingly clean.
Fresh in the mouth, with less marked acidity and increasing softness and unctuous smoothness. It is a long wine, marked by its slight bitterness, typical of the great godello wines. Subtle retronasal aroma with remarkable touch of white flowers.
A Coroa Godello 2020 stands out for its great intensity of aromas, savory, with a lingering aftertaste and great balance in the mouth.
