The Decanter World Wine Awards, considered the most influential wine contest at the international sector, grants the Platinum Medal to the Godello A Coroa 2018

This new prize for the Godello A Coroa 2018 wine arrives after the recently Gold and Silver medals obtained respectively at Mundus Vini, Germany, and at the Challenge International du Vin, one of the most relevant competitions of the wine sector in France.
For its part, the A Coroa 200 Cestos wine, which has just been awarded with a Gold prize at the International Wine Challenge with 96 points – the highest score for the Spanish wines -, has once more surpassed the 90-point barrier at Decanter and gets a more than remarkable Silver medal.
The Awards
The Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) is the world’s largest and most influential wine competition in the sector. Judged by the top wine experts from around the globe, the DWWA is trusted internationally for its rigorous judging process.
With a number of participants that exceeds the 15,000 registered, the competition is organized by the Decanter magazine, specializing in the world of wine and a reference publication for this sector, distributed in more than 90 countries worldwide.
The Wines
A Coroa Godello 2018 has green tones that reflect over a straw yellow, intense, clean and bright.Aromas of white stone fruits, fresh and ripe, coexist with herbaceous notes, citrus aromas and a spicy background.
Enveloping and long-tasting. Balanced acidity. It emphasizes a soft and subtle minerality.
The 2018 vintage began with a dry autumn and some major frosts in winter. Spring, though, brought abundant rainfall. The vines appreciated the rains, especially after a tough 2017, and the grapes could be optimally nourished. Therefore, we can expect a more balanced wine, more aromatic and longer than other vintages.
Adega A Coroa is committed to Valdeorras land and to the vines to offer the best wines. This has led to the creation of 200 Cestos, a very special wine since it is a 100% Godello coming from a plot with special features, with vines over 75 years old planted in terraces.
The plot, for its location, orientation and height, obtained from the variety highlighting its potential godello elegance, complexity and power traditional aroma of this variety and looking for a rich wine with greater intensity of color, freshness and fruit background.
