THE GREAT QUALITY OF THE GRAPE DETERMINES THE 2019 HARVEST IN ADEGA A COROA

A year with no fungal diseases in the vineyard, as well as a continuous and regular vegetative cycle, have marked the optimum ripening of the grape and provided it with a perfect alcohol-acid balance. 2019 harvest
Despite some specific contingencies caused by summer hailstorms – quickly addressed by the prompt action of the vineyard team – the 2019 campaign of the controlled production plots of A Coroa should be qualified as excellent.

The favorable weather conditions for the vineyard all year round, along with a system of specific tasks and treatments according to the climate and characteristics of each plot, have managed to minimize the use of phytosanitaries in 2019 and, consequently, obtain a very natural grape totally free of external agents.
For this purpose, the work of the vineyard team has been key, which has intensified the tasks of “green pruning” in order to achieve the ventilation of the plants and to avoid, thus, any minimum presence of moisture in the vine itself or in the bunch.
These fully manual tasks are responsible for the aforementioned reduction of phytosanitary treatments and, additionally, have optimized the healing of the wounds caused by hail.
All in all, there has been a better ripening of the fruit that has led to a high quality grape, which in turn, will be reflected in the future elaborations of the 2019 vintage.

Through the warranty certificate of Controlled Production, which limits the maximum production per hectare of vineyard to 8000 Kilograms of grapes, the optimum quality of the fruit is guaranteed and overproduction is avoided, allowing to estimate the final quantity that will get to the wine cellar more accurately.
Thereby, it is expected to collect about 120,000 Kilograms of the Godello variety and about 2000 Kg of the Garnacha variety, from which the exclusive Ladeira Vella red wine is elaborated.
